What is it about finding red sea glass?
I value it so much I’m almost afraid to create anything with it.
To me personally, it is not the most rare color to find. I have been fortunate enough to have found several pieces over the years, but I do get super excited when I find it. I also realize how lucky I am. Every. Single. Time.
My favorite find was on Thompson Island in the Boston Harbor. I thought I found a piece of really cool brown, but when I got home and held it up to the sun to examine the texture, I realized it was RED!
Below are some pieces I took out today from my collection….
Amberina Glass ~ That’s the two-toned glass you see… Red to Yellow.
The patent for Amberina Glass was dated July 24, 1883 in Boston, Massachusetts. Old Car Tail Lights ~ 1900 – 1950. Ruby Red Beer Bottles ~ made for Schlitz Beer Company in 1949,1950 and 1963.
I’ll always dive into the sand for red sea glass… no matter what the size, or condition… I will simply admire it in my collection, use it for jewelry or work it into a mosaic piece… no matter what, I know it will be treasured.
